Chapter One 2

Chapter One

Jesus invites us on a life of adventure. But in our busy, fast-paced way of living, what does it look like to follow him?

This term, we’re launching a new discipleship experience, Chapter One. Through personal study, small group sessions and experiences, we’ll explore seven ‘rhythms’ of discipleship, and help you to build your life around them.

If you’re new to King’s, we’d encourage you to start here. And if you’ve been here a while, this is a great chance to rediscover the adventure of following Jesus.

Start Date: Tuesday 7 May 2019

Here are the seven rhythms we’ll explore and experience throughout our ten weeks together:

  1. Rhythm of Scripture
  2. Rhythm of Prayer
  3. Rhythm of Power
  4. Rhythm of Worship
  5. Rhythm of Freedom
  6. Rhythm of Generosity
  7. Rhythm of Reaching Out

Exploring the Bible

Exploring the Bible

This is a group to help us grow in our relationship with Jesus by exploring and studying the Bible in a structured way.

Whatever your level of Bible knowledge we’ll learn to apply God’s Word to our lives to create a deeper understanding of His love, mercy and grace for us.

How do we do that?

1. Our meetings will be centred on a structured workbook from the Community Bible Study organisation (https://www.communitybiblestudy.org/).  The booklet will be given to each participant at the start of the first meeting.
2. The workbook contains questions which encourage us to search and study the Bible.
3. In subsequent meetings, we will have group discussion to share and reflect on the answers to the questions posed in the booklet and how our findings should change our lives.
4. There is a short video to review the topics covered at the end of each meeting which wraps it all up and helps us to respond to God’s Word.
5. The commentary of the workbook will hopefully challenge our hearts as we work through it.
6. We will finish each week with prayers, go home to be doers of the Word and get ready for the following week.

This group will play games, watch movies, eat and pray together as we reflect on the week and chat through the things we have coming up.

As leaders we will encourage the children in who they are, deeply loved by their Heavely Father.

We hope to nurture an environment where everyone can grow in appreciation of each other, talk about their hopes and fears and what is going on in their lives and to build deep, lasting friendships.

We will encourage the children to speak the truth of Jesus into one another's situations and help them to see what community can be like outside of the formalised "church".
