Chapter One 4

Chapter One

Jesus invites us on a life of adventure. But in our busy, fast-paced way of living, what does it look like to follow him?

‘Chapter One’ is the foundational experience in discipleship at King’s Church.  Through personal study, small group sessions and experiences, we’ll explore seven ‘rhythms’ of discipleship, and help you to build your life around them.

If you’re new to King’s, we’d encourage you to start here. And if you’ve been here a while, this is a great chance to rediscover the adventure of following Jesus.

This term’s course is now closed for new extrants.  Please email sgc@kchw.co.uk to register interest for next term

Here are the seven rhythms we’ll explore and experience throughout our ten weeks together:

  1. Rhythm of Scripture
  2. Rhythm of Prayer
  3. Rhythm of Power
  4. Rhythm of Worship
  5. Rhythm of Freedom
  6. Rhythm of Generosity
  7. Rhythm of Reaching Out

This group will play games, watch movies, eat and pray together as we reflect on the week and chat through the things we have coming up.

As leaders we will encourage the children in who they are, deeply loved by their Heavely Father.

We hope to nurture an environment where everyone can grow in appreciation of each other, talk about their hopes and fears and what is going on in their lives and to build deep, lasting friendships.

We will encourage the children to speak the truth of Jesus into one another's situations and help them to see what community can be like outside of the formalised "church".

Prayer Support For The Sexually Exploited

Jesus mixed with all sorts of people when he was here.  We know that he loves everyone, regardless of what they have done and are doing with their lives.  We also know that there are women in High Wycombe who are caught in sexual exploitation, and we want to pray for these women on the fringes of society.

We don’t know where this could lead, but we want to hear from God and show his love, through prayer, to these very vulnerable women.

We would like to meet once a week if possible for an hour, to pray and seek God’s face on behalf of these forgotten women.

The group is open to women and men, but obviously as it’s quite a niche group there will be a degree of understanding required regarding the sensitivity of the situation and the vulnerability of the women. Also knowing the opposition we will be facing from Satan, and the pimps/pushers etc. involved in the women’s lives and work.
