Psalm 46
God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging.
There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy place where the Most High dwells.
God is within her, she will not fall;
God will help her at break of day.
Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
he lifts his voice, the earth melts.
The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
Come and see what the Lord has done,
the desolations he has brought on the earth.
He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth.
He breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
he burns the shields with fire.
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”
The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
Read this Psalm through. What things does it tell us about God? Thank him for who he is and what he’s like.
Pray for the world
Psalm 46:9 ‘He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth.
He breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the shields with fire.’
- For places in the world needing God’s peace – Ukraine, Gaza, Iran, Haiti, North Korea, Somalia, Yemen, Eritrea & Libya…
- That the church in those places would rise up and demonstrate mercy, kindness, peace, faith & confidence in God.
- For moves of the Holy Spirit in those places. For supernatural encounters – healings, dreams, miracles, provision
- For righteous leaders with godly wisdom
- For God’s Kingdom & reign to be evident.
Pray for Sunday morning:
- John speaking
- Adewale & Ruth leading the meeting
- Mark & Katie & the band leading worship
- For all our serving teams (King’s Kids, youth, prayer, prophetic, refreshments, welcome…)
- For the Lord’s power, presence & involvement in our meetings
- For people to be saved, healed & set free.
Pray for Outreach ministries:
- For CAP, Little Stars, Learning English, Chosen, King’s Table
- That we would see fruit from these ministries – salvations, healing, life-change, signs of God’s Kingdom.
- That Jesus would be seen clearly at the centre of all we do.
- That we would find favour in our town
- For each person reached by our outreach ministries, that Jesus would draw them to himself.
Pray for God’s involvement in all our activities:
- Lots going on:.. small groups, ‘Stories of Hope’ group, ‘Rooted in the Father’ conference, Exploring Baptism, Exploring Church Membership, newcomers’ lunches, BLESS adventures, new preaching series, King’s Kids, youth …
- For God’s presence and life in all we do.
- That the church would be responsive to God’s voice, growing in our faith and our love for him.
- For those who are leading – for God’s wisdom, inspiration, energy and joy.
