Reflection
Read Psalm 46 and think about what stands out to you and what it tells us about God. Then, we will spend some time speaking out our praise to God.
Psalm 46:
God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
3 though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging.[c]
4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy place where the Most High dwells.
5 God is within her, she will not fall;
God will help her at break of day.
6 Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
he lifts his voice, the earth melts.
7 The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
8 Come and see what the Lord has done,
the desolations he has brought on the earth.
9 He makes wars cease
to the ends of the earth.
He breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
he burns the shields[d] with fire.
10 He says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.’
11 The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
The Nations
Pick a nation or world issue that you know about and pray for:
- Peace and protection
- God to break into those situations
- God’s wisdom, courage and righteousness for world leaders and governments
- The Church to rise up and be courageous in sharing the gospel, and for many to be saved.
Summer Sunday (no Sunday meetings on 16 August)
Please pray for:
- A great time of community and fun on Sunday at the picnic
- Those who are new or on the fringe of church to get to know others at the picnic.
Leaders & Serving Teams
Please pray for:
- The elders, senior leaders and staff team – to be filled with the Spirit, refreshed and equipped for all God has for them to do
- Those in serving teams to know God’s blessing and refreshing, to be filled with the Spirit and grow in God.
- Serving teams to be a place of community and joy as they serve together and for people to find their place and know they are playing a part in the kingdom
- More people to join the serving teams
- Those who lead serving teams – to lead with grace, kindness and God’s direction.
PowerHouse & the Retired Generations
Please pray for:
- The Leadership Team. To be protected from attacks as they serve the PowerHouse Membership
- To keep them fresh with Spirit-led ideas as they plan each month.
- The health of PowerHouse members.
- The healing of those in PowerHouse who are struggling with illness or ailments or who are in hospital. That they would know God’s healing power and his peace as they walk through these difficult times.
- Spirit-filled meetings where the Holy Spirit can move and speak.
- God to continue to fill and use those in these generations
