This morning – going to start off practising the ‘art of silence’, and then pray for Sunday morning as usual with a further focus on serving teams and the ‘Sit at His Feet’ preaching series’, and for small groups.

Mark 1: 35-39

35 Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. 36 Simon and his companions went to look for him, 37 and when they found him, they exclaimed: “Everyone is looking for you!”

38 Jesus replied, “Let us go somewhere else—to the nearby villages—so I can preach there also. That is why I have come.” 39 So he travelled throughout Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out demons.

The ‘art of silence’

  • We are going to practice the ‘art of silence’ by setting a 5-minute timer and spending this time in silence, with no expectations or distractions.
  • If a thought comes into your mind, try not to get caught up in it. Focus on your breathing. In and out. In and out.
  • Now, silence. If it helps, imagine the presence of the Holy Spirit with you. You don’t have to talk to God, and you don’t have to expect God to talk to you. You’re just present with one another.

Intimacy with Jesus

  • Against distractions in life that turn our focus and attention away from Jesus
  • To keep Jesus at the centre of everything we do and say.
  • To find time to simply sit at His feet and make dedicated space with Jesus.
  • To absorb ourselves in the practice of silence and prayer with God.

Praying for Small Groups

  • For ‘new’ relationships to be formed and ‘old’ relationships strengthened and restored between people in all our small groups, creating a greater sense of community and family within the church.
  • For the times together to be spent meaningfully, with purpose and to keep Jesus at the centre of all of our small groups times together.
  • That much will be gained from spending time discussing the ‘Sit at His Feet’ series together, unpacking the message and growing in intimacy with Jesus.
  • That the Kingdom of God will be strengthened in High Wycombe as the town is covered in prayer through small groups throughout the week, not just on a Sunday!

Praying for Sunday Morning

  • For a powerful and prophetic time of worship, led by Jen Swallow
  • For John and Joanna leading the meetings
  • For Rich Horne continuing the ‘Sit at His Feet’ preaching series, titled ‘Gentle and Humble’
  • Encounters with God in all of the kids and youth ministries
  • Anointing for all who are involved in Sunday’s meeting and for them to receive a fresh touch of the Holy Spirit

Praying for our Worship and Production teams

  • For a strengthening of relationships within the worship ‘collectives’, wider worship and production teams. To have fun together and build each other up meaningfully
  • To build attractive, diverse teams that work together to ensure Sunday mornings run smoothly, but also find time for intimacy with Jesus, both individually and as a wider team.
  • To encourage a team filled with the Spirit and direction to lead the church in powerful times of Spirit-led worship.
  • To encourage the growth of both teams by prompting the hearts of willing volunteers and those already in the team to use relationships to encourage serving from others. Focused attention on those that are particularly interested in all the technical aspects of Production (specifically live sound mixing, projection and Livestream broadcast audio mixing).
